queen of the city
if you've ever flown in or out of charlotte-douglas international airport, you've most likely seen the statue of queen charlotte. i remember passing by her many times after collecting my luggage and making my way to the car in the parking lot. her tall arm raised high at sixteen feet with water spraying upwards from her 25 foot pedestal is almost iconic at the airport.
well, her days are numbered. at least in her present location. i ran across an article today describing queen charlotte's fate. but no need to fret, she's not going away for good. the plan is for her to be relocated somewhere else, possibly inside the airport terminal (against the wishes of the sculptor).
i'm glad that queen charlotte won't be going away for good, but i felt as if her present location was a perfect way to greet travelers to her city.
