the cost of love
save the date? more like "save your money"!
as is the case with growing up, we have a number of weddings to attend in the coming year. four, to be exact. and every one of those weddings is a destination wedding. g and i are both close to all four of these couples in some way or another and want to be present for their special day. but with our decision comes numerous costs. astonishingly, here is what it will cost us merely to attend:
C&E's special day
location: singer island, florida
hotel: $450 for 2 nights
airfare: free
TOTAL: $450
C&J's special day
location: outer banks, nc
hotel: $213 per person for 3 nights
car rental: $40 per person for entire weekend
airfare: free
TOTAL: $506
T&J's special day
location: london, uk
hotel: $996 for 5 nights (with current exchange rates)
airfare: approx. $250 (using travel benefits with other airlines)
transportation: approx. $100 for 5 days
TOTAL: $1,496
S&J's special day
location: puerto vallarta, mexico
hotel: $428 for 4 nights, all-inclusive
airfare: $351
TOTAL: $779
TOTAL FOR ALL FOUR WEDDINGS: $3,231
sadly, those totals do not account for extra expenditures such as food, cabs, tips, etc. that we will incur while in those destinations (with the exception on the mexican wedding which is, thankfully, all-inclusive). and don't forget the gifts!
while this is a very shocking amount to attend these wonderful couples' weddings, we wouldn't be doing it unless we wanted to. much love and joy to them all!

just wait. one of these days i'm going to pull a carrie bradshaw and send announcements that i'm getting married....to myself! and i'll be registered at manolo blahnik. ;)
while it is expensive sometimes, i feel the same as you - it's nice to be able to be there for these big events in our friends' lives. next round - baby showers!
My checkbook mind is reeling! LOL
