who are the people in your neighborhood?

we live in a courtyard building with 7 units (i think) in our particular section. i have met our neighbor across the hall one time, as we were moving in. since then i think i have seen her two additional times. i've seen the people below us maybe three times, as they take their dog out. i have not even seen the rest of the people in our building. and i cannot tell you any of their names.

but, i can tell you quite a few things about these people.

1E: i believe that their unit may be two floors (hence me not knowing exactly how many units are in the building). they have a large lion-ish door knocker (very tacky). they receive numerous packages throughout the week from various online vendors. i'm also pretty sure that they are trying to sell their unit. and that's where these booties come in.

i'm guessing these are for people to put on their shoes as they enter the unit during open houses. seems a bit much to me, but hey, it's not my place.

2E: our downstairs neighbors. they have a dog and a baby. we only hear the crying baby from time to time, thankfully. the dog can be heard when the UPS/FedEx man rings each unit to drop off a package. i want these people to be our friends (not in a "come over for dinner" kind of way, however) so that they don't complain of noise. i'm always paranoid about walking too loudly on the floor, vacuuming too early, or my cleaning music being a bit too loud. eh, i guess that's what you get when you purchase in the middle of the building.

2W: they leave their shoes outside their front door. someone has some really cute kenneth cole shoes that i LOVE. i wonder if they're my size....

3W: our neighbor across the hall that we have met once. she lives alone and seems like a very nice girl. during the warmer months she likes to keep her backdoor open, leaving a clear view into her kitchen (i love looking into other people's places to see what their home looks like). the only thing odd about her is her apparent love of turtles.

outside her front door are four little turtles. why? i don't know. i'm thinking about finding one on my next vacation and giving it to her. it's better than a freshly baked pie for some, right?

we have yet to be informed of any association meeting where we might actually meet more of our neighbors. i kind of like not knowing them and making assumptions about them based upon my unique observations. it's fun.
