as mentioned in a recent post, g and i went on a bermuda and caribbean cruise with a couple friends. it was just what we needed!! it was warm, sunny, and relaxing! i didn't worry about a thing! (...well, except for emerson. but he was in good hands.)
we left from NYC. by going a day early, we were able to catch a broadway show the night before our cruise left. we saw 'mary poppins'. the next morning we took a cab to the port. we were greeted with a foggy and overcast sky. thankfully we could still see the statue of liberty in the foggy distance.
we set sail for bermuda. after two days at sea, we were greeted with sun, warmth, and pink sand. we took a tour of nearby sights with a taxi driver. she was very informative and let us stop to take pictures along the way! it was a great way to see such a beautiful place! we spent the rest of the afternoon laying on the pink sand and playing in the waves of the ocean.
after bermuda, we went to san juan. i was excited to see puerto rico for the first time. we saw fort san felipe del morro as pulled into the port. when we stepped off the ship, the clouds rolled in. g and i made the trek to the fort as it began to rain...hard. along with the rain, we had to make our way through a wall of gnats. it was disgusting! we were covered with little black specks! after going back to the ship to shower and change, we met up with the boys for a tapas dinner in old san juan.
st. thomas is an amazing shopping place! our excursion consisted of 2 hours of shopping, a quick drop-off and change at the ship, followed by 2 hours at magens bay. g and i bought a new camera and i purchased a nice, new watch and some cologne! the drive to magens bay was gorgeous! and while it was no beach in bermuda, it was nice laying out and floating in the bay.
our final port was grand turk. it's a tiny island known for it's white sand beaches. we opted for laying out near the ship on the beach at the small shopping village. it was a great way to spend the last day before our return to nyc.
it was very relaxing. and contrary to comments by others, i AM tan!
