after a failed vacation to hawaii this week, we chose a "staycation". we invited our niece and nephew, ages 4 and 2 respectively, to join us in chicago for the week. they were so excited to come up for their "fucation"!
we planned to keep them busy, and boy did we ever! we started off with a trip to the park where they had fun on the swings.
we took the bus (the "city bus" as the kids referred to it the entire time) to the children's museum at navy pier, followed by lunch and a ride on the carousel.
the next day we went to shedd aquarium. we saw "fantasea" and the kids dressed up as penguins. we ended the evening with the movie "up" and bowls of popcorn!
the last day of the trip we slept in, packed everything up, and headed to indiana where nana intercepted the kids.
we had a very enjoyable week with the kids. each day was super exhausting though! the kids never slept past 5:30am, but thankfully a nap was on the agenda each afternoon!
it was a great way to spend some beautiful summer days in chicago! it definitely reaffirmed the fact that i do not want children! i love my niece and nephew very much and love spending time with them....all the while knowing that they go home at the end of their visit!

so fun but so exhausting, esp when you come down with a cold.
