a quick trip to nyc

source.

my friend teresa texted me a while back to say she was going to be in nyc for work and she wanted me to come with her.  i moved a few things around so that i was able to have time off to go for a couple days.  so last week i flew to new york (on jetblue for the first time, i might add!) to join her in brooklyn.  after meeting her at the hotel, we walked to the subway to take the train into manhattan.

we had gotten some restaurant recommendations and looked forward to supper in the east village.  though it was a little brisk (and we had both forgotten our jackets) we still chose to eat outside under the heat lamps.  the food was amazing!  i had chicken stuffed with prosciutto and parmasean and fontina cheeses with potato and mushroom gratin on the side.  YUM!  after our early dinner, we walked around, popping into various stores.  i couldn't be in downtown manhattan without a quick trip to century 21.  we also walked by the world trade center memorial and then zuccotti park where occupy wall street is based.  we warmed ourselves with a warm drink at starbucks before getting on the train to head back to brooklyn.

the next day i slept in while teresa went to the school where she was training.  after she was finished for the day we headed into manhattan.  we had lunch at schnippers, a comfort food favorite of mine and then walked over to times square to get in line at TKTS to find discounted tickets for a show that night.  we narrowed our choices down to three shows; sister act, how to succeed..., or godspell.  as we neared the ticket window, a "theatre expert" (ha ha!) asked us which show we planned to see.  we said that we were thinking godspell.  the look on his face was priceless, "you can see that in any high school auditorium!"  i mentioned our other choices and he recommended we see one of those.  we eventually decided on how to succeed in business without really trying.

i cannot express just how good the show was.  i thoroughly enjoyed daniel radcliffe and john larroquette's performance as well as the rest of the amazing cast.

the next morning i had to get up early to fly down to orlando to visit sea world with my family.  a post about that trip tomorrow!  ....
