after our cruise, we went to visit teresa in charlotte. we had a great time, but let me back up and start with our journey to charlotte.
up to this point, our travel was smooth. boarded easily in chicago, landed in long island, and took the train into manhattan. when the cruise was over, we got off the boat in record time, got into a car, and made our way to laguardia airport. when we got to the ticket counter, we were told that all the flights to charlotte were full and our best bet would be to go through boston. there was a flight leaving shortly so we hurried to the gate and boarded immediately. we landed in boston and went to our next gate to be told that it was completely full. we waited for the next flight, full. finally, after not getting on the third flight, g asked the agent what our chances were. she told us we should try going through philly. so, we make our way to the gate and board our flight to philly. we get to philly and go to the gate for the next charlotte flight. it, like so many before, was full. we were assured the last flight to charlotte would be fine. well, it wasn't. SOOOOO....we took a southwest flight to raliegh where we spent the night and drove to charlotte the following morning.
in summary: 4 airports, 3 airplanes, 18 hours trying to get to our destination, 1 car, 1 hotel room
our car.
so we finally arrived in charlotte. after picking up our luggage that arrived at the airport the previous day, we immediately went to get massages we had scheduled. ahh! we then went to one of my favorite restaurants in charlotte, cabo fish taco. thankfully teresa got off work early and was able to meet us for lunch! we spent the evening at teresa's house and enjoyed a yummy dinner! the following day we went to the u.s. national whitewater center. what a cool place! we hiked and watched the adventurous brave the rapids.
that evening we went to see the charlotte knights minor league baseball game. due to lighting issues, the game was postponed after a few innings. but that didn't stop the fireworks!!!
it was a great visit! i was glad that teresa and g were finally able to meet each other. it was the perfect way to end an amazing and relaxing vacation!
thankfully, we boarded the airplane to chicago on our first try.
