reading in 2010: book #11

the carrie diaries by candace bushnell

if you've read sex in the city (or even seen the tv series) you will enjoy learning how carrie came to be.  this book takes you back to carrie's high school days.  we learn of her interest in writing and her desire to attend a writing camp in new york city.  you discover carrie's "innocence" in her younger days and how, perhaps, she came to write about love, men, heartache, and sex.  the last line of the book will make you smile and yearn for what comes next.

i do hope that there is a sequel to the carrie diaries, because i want to know how "the girls" come to know each other and become such great friends!

and IF (a big IF) they choose to continue the sex in the city empire, i hope that they go backwards instead of forward in the lives of the characters!  the carrie diaries is a great look into the past!

current read: star island by carl hiaasen

(i cannot believe that i've only read 11 books so far this year...)
