where in the world?

g and i have vacation at the beginning of next month.  in typical a&g fashion, we have planned (and subsequently canceled) numerous vacations.

first we planned to go to sydney for a week.  the hotel was booked and i was already planning the walk across the harbour bridge.  the downfall to the trip was the cost of airline passes to australia.  it was a bit pricey and we'd have to get back-up passes on other carriers.  we were afraid it was going to be too expensive so we decided to cancel this trip and book a mediterranean cruise.

we booked the 7-night mediterranean cruise, round trip from barcelona.  it made a couple stops in southern france, but spent most of its time sailing along the western side of italy.  i was excited about the possibility of finally seeing the sights around italy.  when we began to talk about this trip, our friend andrea got excited about this and we attempted to formulate a way for her to join us.  due to the high price of the airfare to barcelona (and who knows what else) we decided that we could get andrea to rome to see the italian sights on our own and therefore chose to cancel this cruise.

we planned a way to see rome, florence, venice, and the amalfi coast on our own schedule.  trains here and there, day trips to this and that, we were okay with rushing around to see all that mattered.  we changed the plan often in order to see as much as possible.

unfortunately, andrea has now had to back out due to work constraints and limited days off.  so that left our plans up in the air.  with 16 days off and the entire world at our disposal (literally), where do we go?!

only time, and g's imaginative travel-planning mind, will tell...
