devil in the white city

if you haven't read erik larson's historical thriller, retelling the events surrounding the world's columbian exhibition, pick it up today.  devil in the white city is a non-fiction book about the 1893 world's fair, held in chicago, intertwining the story of two men; daniel burnham and dr. h.h. holmes.

mr. burnham was the renowned architect who is responsible for the plan of chicago, and creating the "white city" grounds of the world's columbian exhibition.  dr. h.h. holmes was a serial killer who lured his victims to their death at his "white city hotel".  throughout the book, their story creates the drama encompassing the 1893 chicago world's fair.

while i thoroughly enjoyed the book, i'm excited to have learned about the movie version that is in the works.  leonardo dicaprio is slated to star as the villain dr. holmes and it's rumored that jon hamm could be playing the part of daniel burnham.  i think this will be a blockbuster!  looking forward to it!
