it's labor day, a federal holiday that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers. the day came from events help by labor organizations, now regarded as a day of rest and parties. but why today, in 2011, are we celebrating such a day?
unemployment is a record high.
the rights of workers are being stripped away.
today's labor day holiday will be more protest than a celebration.
i wish american's were less apathetic and more passionate about issues affecting its citizens.
