yum yum! pie!

as a housewarming gift, a friend of ours brought us a jar full of the ingredients needed to make a "kentucky chocolate nut pie". known to most as "derby pie".

i had never had said pie...until recently. oh.my! i was having a few friends over for dinner and decided to bake the pie for dessert. it was absolutely delicious! mix the flour, sugar, eggs, butter and vanilla with some chocolate chips and walnuts and bake it for a while! it's like a warm, chocolate chip cookie!



i asked an expert familiar with the pie which it should be served with - ice cream or whipped cream. she said that it is the great debate within her family and both are serving options.

i opted for whipped cream with mine and wasn't disappointed at all! my only problem is that half of the pie is still leftover with guests all gone!
