rights


yesterday, proposition 8 was overturned in california. it is a major step ensuring that all citizens are entitled to their basic human rights as american citizens. i really don't have much to say about this because it's apparent how i feel regarding this issue.

here's a basic argument regarding civil rights. they should never be brought forward to a vote. it's right there in our constitution, article XIV:

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
